Performances of Jeremy Wohletz have been described as “tasty and elegant” with “a lovely tone to his sound and great control throughout.” Awarded second place in the 2023 American Prize for Woodwind Performance (professional division), Wohletz has appeared in Ireland, Canada, Portugal, Indonesia, and throughout the United States. Currently, he serves as Assistant Professor of Woodwinds at Valley City State University, where he teaches woodwind lessons, aural skills, and coaches woodwind chamber ensembles.

Maintaining a highly active performance schedule, Wohletz has performed and lectured at conferences for the International Clarinet Association (ICA), International Double Reed Society, Single Reed Summit, and National Association for Collegiate Wind and Percussion Instructors (NACWPI). As an advocate for new music, he enjoys collaborating with composers to both perform and commission new works. He has been a guest soloist with the Missouri Valley Chamber Orchestra, the Dickinson Community Band, and Silent Voices Festival. He has performed regularly with the Bismarck Mandan Symphony Orchestra on both clarinet and saxophone and is a sub with the Fargo Moorhead Symphony Orchestra.

As a music educator, Wohletz is frequently asked as a woodwind clinician throughout North Dakota and the region. He was the guest artist for South Dakota State University’s Woodwind Day and has given masterclasses at the University of Kansas, North Dakota State University, Casper College (WY), Central College (IA), and Dawson County College (MT). Wohletz has also served as clarinet faculty at the International Music Camp since 2018, where he teaches clarinet sectionals, masterclasses, and coach woodwind chamber ensembles. In addition to being a regular audio reviewer for the Clarinet Journal, he has been published both in the Clarinet Journal and the NACWPI journal. In 2014, he won second prize at the ICA Research Competition for his presentation entitled “East Meets West: Transcribing Balinese Gamelan for Clarinet Choir.”

Jeremy Wohletz received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Baker University, Master of Music from Southern Illinois-Carbondale, and Doctoral of Musical Arts from the University of Kansas. His teachers include Dr. JD Parr, Dr. Eric Mandat, and Dr. Stephanie Zelnick.

Wohletz currently serves as the North Dakota State chair for both the ICA and NACWPI and is an Associate Member of the International Music Camp Corporation.
