Selected to perform at upcoming CMS/NACWPI conference!
Will be performing a recital of bass clarinet quartets, with fellow bass clarinetists Shannon McDonald (Texas Women’s University), Michael Walsh (South Dakota State University), and Danielle Woolery (Texas Women’s University). Conference will take place November 12-14, 2026 in Grand Rapids, Michigan
Teaching at International Music Camp
This will be my 7th year (9th if you count the Zoom or On the Road years) teaching at the International Music Camp. I’ll be up there Week 1 and 2, teaching clarinet sectionals, masterclasses, and coaching chamber music.
Selected to perform at NACWPI conference
Was selected to perform a recital entitled “Accessible Bass Clarinet Duets,” which featured a premiere of Jonathan Russell’s Sqwonklets and Wide Load by Marc Mellits. Although bass clarinets capable of playing low c are becoming more affordable, not all schools have multiple low c instruments. Both of these duets have versions that can be done with instruments going to low e-flat. And REALLY fun pieces to play!
Faculty Recital at Valley City State University
First faculty recital at a new school! Was honored to share the stage with my new colleagues, performing Michael Lowenstern’s Ten Children No. 15.
Published in The Clarinet Journal
Despite taking WAY too long to finally get around to finish this project, it was really enjoyable to work on and crosses being published in The Clarinet journal off of my bucket list!
As someone that frequently programs recitals with unaccompanied pieces using extended techniques, I am often asked for suggestions for solo repertoire that could serve as a starting point for someone interested in this genre. My go-to suggestion has always been Excursions for A Clarinet by Ronald Caravan. This article includes an interview with the composer about the piece and tips for performing some of the extended techniques.
Low Clarinet Fest 2025
It was great to share music that I had commissioned to the world! Recital featuring Beyond Winter by Lindsey Wiehl (new version for bass clarinet, contrabass clarinet, and piano), Heron by Lisa Bost, and the second movement of Eric Mandat’s Higher Ground: II. Underground.
ClarinetFest 2024 in Dublin Ireland!
